Use Helvetica...

There are many typefaces (fonts) out there. Most of them suck, and render themselves useless. This might not be a great concern to most people, but as a designer I feel obligated to make a statement when I feel "convicted" about things. So here it is...

For my thesis paper (known as a capstone project) I will be researching and outlining the misuse of type in the world of design. I am sure that typography is the most important element of graphic design, and therefore could be argued to be one of the most important visual elements in our social and business climates. Man, that's whaaack. Ok. So, when I have completed this 10-page masterpiece (using non other than 12pt double spaced copy in MS Office) I will be sure to post it here. Along with the paper, I will include a related composition, in which is already in the works. It will be a legal sized comp, but I will probably have much larger prints. Nice eh? Hells yeah.

The Walmart Strikes Back...

I will no longer shop at Walmart.

Walmart sucks. You wanna know why? Even though Walfart has low prices, the experienced gained by stepping into one of their stores can never be anything more than a consumer hell. Their prices are good, but at what cost?

They undercut the local shops (which in my experience tend to have way better customer service and are in general far more awesome than Walfart), practice unfair labor acts on their workers, buy tons of goods from China, and are trying to take over the world... all while Sam Walton is rolling in his grave.

The only way that I can think of not supporting or condoning the idea of such a huge evil empire is to not shop there. I would rather shop at Target and pay higher prices. They seem to be the lesser of many evils. Plus, I just recently found a 24X36 Andy Warhol print at Target for only $8.99...

Take that Walmart... and shove it up your pooper...

Black Hole...

So I live in Downtown Denver. But wait... it's not so glamorous. I live in a black hole. Actually, it's a 309 sq ft studio apartment. Either way, it's the type of place that allows absolutely no amount of light to enter or escape. Sometimes I think that they just converted the janitor's closet into an extra apartment... expecting a young, naive, Idahoan kid like myself to be dooped signing the lease. The worst of it is, no matter where you are in the apartment, you can hear everything your neighbor is doing. Everything. It might be some type of sick chinese torture method. I haven't quite figured it out yet...

Help. I need out. Nacho, my chihuahua will have to come too. Leave no man behind.

A mind awakened...

So it's been almost a year... I know... I'm sorry, what can I say, I get a little wrapped up in life and sometimes kinda forget about my random blog. Ok, so I REALLY forgot about it. A lot has happened in the (almost) 1 year since my last post. I moved to Boise, went to BSU, worked at Channel 2, earned money, spent lots of money, joined a band, loved, learned, got a new chihuahua puppy, moved to Denver, learned even more, found out who and what matters the most to me, and come march am going to have my Bachelors Degree. More to come...

I will try to pay more attention. Nevermind... I won't try, I will do. Awesome.
The next year is going to be even better than 07'...
